The TigressThere's a tigress inside me.
She's curled languidly around my organs,
her stripes decorating the spaces between my cells.
I can hear her softly growling snores
and feel her hot breath in my blood,
but no one else knows of her existence.
I suppose she's too lazy to come out and show herself off
...or maybe I'm too scared to uncage her.
Whatever the reason, she's trapped inside,
flicking her tail and gnawing at my thoughts.
There's never a moment I'm not aware of her;
I know she lurks within me at all times.
I feel her resilient teeth and sense her growing hunger.
She can't stay pent up forever.
One of these days she will burst ou
ObsessionI'm burning my brain to blackened embers
and whittling away at my sanity
with all this planning, counting, and waiting.
My conscious mind won't stop
chattering and swinging on vines,
harassing me with constant hyperactivity.
I can't stop judging and reevaluating myself.
Like two mirrors facing each other
my introspection ricochets into eternity.
Is there an off-button, lever, or trigger
that will shut down this chaotic system?
What must I do to silence the din?
I'm trapped in a tidy little box of obsession
That's shrinking by the minute.
